A large, generous shaped jar thrown in red earthenware with dandelion decoration.

This piece is decorated with a sgraffito technique, drawing through the white slip to reveal the clay below. It’s one those things where you get one chance, you can’t rub it out and try again and the slip is drying and changing state from the moment it is applied. Hit the surface to quickly and the decoration will literally slip down the pot, too late and it gives a hard scratchy line. Timing is key.
